After Hours call centers accommodate
calls in the wee hours of the morning and evening. This can be a strain for domestic
call centers in terms of staffing. It can be difficult to recruit and maintain a
top notch staff to work the so called graveyard shift.
However, if your location is desirable
(ie. An area in which people needs jobs and are willing to work nights for them)
then offering this service can be a boon to offer since many companies require 24
hour customer service.
Another concern with staffing and after
hours call centers can be ensuring that your employees are able to get to the office.
Public transportation does not generally operate in these off hours and it can complicate
matters. Some call centers may have
overseas locations that take over during the evening hours in a “follow the sun”
type call support scenario. This can be a good way to go but can also be time consuming
and costly to setup and maintain.
